International Agriculture Programs
Research that Feeds the World
The mission of Kansas State University is to foster excellent teaching, research, and service that develop a highly skilled and educated citizenry necessary to advancing the well-being of Kansas, the nation, and the international community. The College of Agriculture has a rich history of international engagement through research and capacity building programs. This history extends as far back as the establishment of an agricultural university in India in 1964. Since then, the College of Agriculture has continued to make investments in translational research for global agricultural challenges.
Our faculty have led five Feed the Future Innovation Labs – unique research programs that work to address global hunger – totaling more than $150 million over the last decade, with funding from the United States Agency for International Development. We partner with the United States Department of Agriculture to bring international agricultural stakeholders to K-State through programs like the Cochran and Borlaug Fellowship programs. Our faculty are conducting research on the crops and production systems for a changing future through investments in sorghum and millet, wheat, sustainability, soil fertility and water management. We are a global leader in livestock production and health and in feed and milling capacity – and so much more. College of Ag faculty are contributing to critical research for some of today’s most important global issues. And K-State alumni are taking on these same challenges in government, industry and international organizations around the world.
