Meet Frank Lezcano Amoruso
Major: Feed and Pet Food Science
Expected graduation year: 2028
Home country: Panama
Why did you choose feed science and management as your major?
I chose my major because my dad runs a livestock feed mill in Panama. I grew up working with him every summer, and I got to see the process. That caught my attention and drew me into choosing Feed Science as my major.
What are your plans after completing your degree?
I am not one hundred percent sure what my plans will be after I finish my degree. Anything can change, but I do hope to stay in the United States for a bit and work in the industry. Eventually, I want to return to Panama and work with my dad. His mill doesn’t produce pet food, and that is something he wants to start doing, and I want to help him accomplish that goal.
What made K-State College of Agriculture stand out to you as the best option for your education?
Feed Science is not a famous or well-known major and K-State is one of the few places that offers it. My dad said it was an amazing place with great technology and professors who can help you so much along the way.
What organizations or tools does K-State and the College of Agriculture provide you as an international student?
My advisors have helped me a lot and helped to make me an awesome schedule. I have found that everybody is always really helpful. This semester I took an “Introduction to Grain Science” class with Dr. Dogan. She was great and taught me what to expect in the major and as a college student in general and how to navigate K-State.
If you could encourage other students from your home country or anywhere in the world to attend K-State and the College of Agriculture, what would you share with them?
You will have an awesome experience and learn a lot. You will get firsthand work experience in a mill or wherever your area of focus is while you are a student at the university.
Is there anything else you'd like to share with us?
The people here at K-State are very friendly. One of my fears was coming here alone and not knowing anybody, but making friends has been easy. Everybody is so friendly and you won't have a problem meeting new people.
